Living Here Means Being Close to What’s Next: Economic Growth in Harrison County, TX

Harrison County — home to Marshall and key employment hubs in Northeast Texas — is experiencing significant economic momentum. With transformative investment in advanced energy infrastructure, workforce alignment programs, and ongoing economic development support, Harrison County is building a future that benefits residents, schools, and local businesses alike.

A Landmark $400M Clean Energy Project

A major driver of Harrison County’s economic growth is the announcement of a $400 million battery energy storage facility by Peregrine Energy Solutions. Slated to be one of the largest private investments in the county’s history, the project will be built on about 42 acres and feature more than 1,000 containerized battery storage units designed to support reliability of the Texas-Southwest Power Pool grid. Construction is expected to begin before the end of 2027, with operations starting in 2028.

This facility will help ensure energy reliability during peak demand and contribute significant tax revenues to local services, including schools and emergency response districts — providing direct financial benefits for families and public programs.

Strengthening the Workforce Through Education and Industry Alignment

Harrison County’s economic development strategy includes strong partnerships between employers and educators. Initiatives such as the WE Align (Workforce & Education Alignment Group) connect local industries with schools and colleges to ensure students develop skills that meet real-world workforce needs. This collaboration benefits students, expands career pathways, and supports business growth with a trained local labor pool.

By bridging education and employment, Harrison County is preparing the next generation for high-quality jobs while helping existing employers find the talent they need.

Built-for-Growth Infrastructure and Public Investment

Local economic development organizations and county leadership continue to support infrastructure projects, site readiness, and business services that make the region competitive. Efforts include:

  • Enhancing sites and services that attract investment
  • Supporting primary jobs that stabilize and grow the local tax base
  • Providing coordination and incentives that help both new and existing businesses expand in Harrison County

These investments help both large employers and small businesses thrive, contributing to a diversified and resilient local economy.

Why This Matters for Our Residents

Harrison County’s economic development progress means:

  • Strategic investment in energy infrastructure that stabilizes service and supports growth
  • Enhanced job opportunities and workforce training pathways
  • Increased property tax revenue benefiting schools and public services
  • Expanded community capacity for future development
  • A business-friendly environment that attracts sustainable investments

Whether you’re part of the workforce, raising a family, or planning your long-term future here, these projects and initiatives help make Harrison County a community full of opportunity.

A Community Leading Into Tomorrow

We’re proud to be in a region that embraces innovation, community collaboration, and thoughtful economic planning. Harrison County’s development strategy — centered on clean energy investment, workforce alignment, and infrastructure support — ensures residents aren’t just part of today’s growth, but are connected to what’s next.

Living here means being part of a community prepared for progress — and positioned for opportunity.
